Bioengineering Chair
Overview: This chair covers all aspects of biomimetic reaction theory, the design and development of bioreactors, the separation and refinement process using biochemical technology, microorganism engineering as the backbone of bioengineering, the production of useful materials using the most advanced cellular engineering, the investigation of the basic characteristics and expression of the vital functions of biopolymers, and synthesis of biologically interesting compounds. Areas of research specialization include: synthetic organic chemistry, electro-organic chemistry, microbial engineering and technology, biochemistry, and bioengineering. Research topics include: asymmetric synthesis of biologically active alkaloids, organic synthesis of electro-generated reactive species, microbial conversion of organic waste to bioremediation, oxidative phosphorylation of yeast mitochondria, thermophiles, molecular mechanisms of cell motility, and effective utilization of scallop shells.
