The College of Information and Systems is comprised of the School of Materials Engineering and the School of Computer Engineering. The aim of the college is the development of innovative scientific and productive technologies based on interdisciplinary research activities.

The School of Materials Engineering concentrates on the investigation of new technologies and manufacturing processes. It includes teaching and research in the scientific fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. Principal research activities include materials design and characterization, the investigation of the properties of composite materials, and the development of new materials including organic materials with biophysics properties.

The School of Computer Engineering's main focus is on the development of intelligent engineering systems, combining sensing systems, information processing, and soft computing. This research has various applications, among them the investigation of fuzzy systems, neural networks, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and pattern recognition.
