On September 11th (GMT), the Times Higher Education announced World University Rankings 2020, and Muroran Institute of Technology (MuroranIT) is ranked as a top 801-1000 university (up from 1001+ last year). In Hokkaido and Tohoku, MuroranIT is on a par with Sapporo Medical University (801-1000), following Tohoku University (251-300), Hokkaido University (401-500) and University of Aizu (601-800).
The THE World University Rankings is based on the annual evaluations of universities across the world from the perspectives of teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook. Only 6% (equivalent to 1,396 schools) out of the approximately 23,000 higher education institutions in the world stand at the rankings. In Japan, 110 universities are included in the overall evaluations, and MuroranIT is highly rated as 26th mark (13th among 57 national university corporations) nationwide.
